The rich and hearty flavor of Tender Belly’s outstanding heritage breed pork needs no bells and whistles. But for this edition, they pulled a disappearing act, by losing the added sugar. This allows the distinguished flavors of the pork and their signature dry rub to do all the talking!
Starting with pork made from 100% heritage breed pigs, these hogs are raised without antibiotics, 100% vegetarian fed, and crate-free. They take longer to grow and mature, which means they have extra fattiness. That leads to more marbling, and even more tender meat with better flavor and juiciness. Next, they apply their signature maple-and-spice rub to the bellies, dry cure, and smoke ‘em to perfection over real cherrywood. No water is added to the bacon either, which means meatier bacon with more protein and less shrinkage – a high five for your taste buds.
