Dressed Up Triple Chocolate Pound Cake

Not that Alki Bakery’s Triple Chocolate Pound Cake needed a makeover. After all, it is made with three kinds of chocolate. It’s rich, it’s fudgy, and it packs a chocolatey punch all on its own. But we thought to ourselves, how could we elevate this cake to the next level? By dressing it up with cream cheese frosting and a chocolate drizzle. (Yes, MORE chocolate!)

Dressed Up Triple Chocolate Pound Cake

What you need

Triple Chocolate Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Instructions

Using a sharp, serrated knife, cut lengthwise through the center of the whole loaf. Keeping both sides intact, remove the top side and set aside.

In a medium mixing bowl, combine cream cheese and powdered sugar with a hand mixer until well combined. The frosting should be thick enough that it keeps its shape when spread. Spread the cream cheese frosting onto the bottom half of the pound cake and replace the top. Place on a plate and put it in the freezer while melting the chocolate.

Place chocolate in a heatproof bowl and microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring after each time. Once the chocolate looks about melted (should have just a few lumps), stir until the lumps disappear.

Remove the cake from the freezer, and drizzle warm chocolate over the top. Place back in the freezer for another 30 minutes to harden chocolate, then serve!

I made this for my family and it was a huge hit. I added a little bit of cocoanut oil to the melting chocolate to soften it a bit. Super easy and decadent dessert!
