5 Easy Mother’s Day Breakfasts Kids Can Help Make

Mother’s Day breakfast doesn’t need to be complicated to feel special. In fact, the best ones usually aren’t. Think simple, a little bit sweet, and made with just enough “help” from little hands to make Mom smile before she’s even had her coffee.
Here are a few easy, kid-friendly breakfast ideas that little ones can help out with, no stress and no mess. (Well... Maybe only a little mess!)
Build-Your-Own Yogurt Parfaits
This one is basically edible arts and crafts. Zero cooking, totally customizable, and even very little kids can participate.
Ingredients:
- Mom's favorite yogurt (vanilla or plain work well with any toppings)
- fresh berries, washed and if needed pre-sliced by an adult
- granola
- Optional: drizzle of honey.
Layer everything into a glass or bowl. Start with a layer of yogurt, then fruit, then crunchy granola. Repeat until it looks as pretty (or as chaotic) as they like.
Kids can:
- Build each layer
- Arrange berries on top
- Drizzle honey
Classic French Toast (with a little help)
A Mother’s Day staple for a reason. Use our favorite French Toast recipe, and top with butter, maple syrup, and berries. It feels like a “real” breakfast, but the steps are simple and repetitive, perfect for slightly older kids to jump in and help.
Ingredients:
- Smith Brothers eggs
- White bread (or switch things up with a fruit bread or cinnamon bread!)
- Smith Brothers milk
- Smith Brothers butter
- Fresh berries
- Whipped cream
Kids can:
- Crack and whisk eggs (expect shells, it’s part of the charm)
- Dip the bread
- Help sprinkle cinnamon or powdered sugar
- Beat the whipped cream if you're using fresh cream, or squirt canned whipped cream
Tip for kid-friendly whipped cream: Fill a clean 8 oz. mason jar half full of heavy cream and a Tablespoon of sugar. Add a clean marble (this is optional but the marble does make it go faster). Screw the lid of the jar on tightly and let the kiddos shake that jar until the cream gets thick. Watch for overbeating, as the cream will eventually turn into butter.
Mini Waffle Stackers
Small waffles = instant joy.
Franz mini waffles mean breakfast is ready in a snap. Toast them in an oven or toaster, then stack them up and let kids add fruit, yogurt, or a drizzle of syrup between layers. Mini anything feels special, and kids love building their own stacks.
Ingredients:
- mini waffles
- Smith Brothers butter
- Fresh berries
- Whipped cream (see tip above)
- syrup
Kids can:
- Help toast the waffles (with supervision)
- Stack the finished waffles
- Decorate stacks with toppings
- Beat the whipped cream if you're using fresh cream, or squirt canned whipped cream
Berry Smoothie + Toast “Tea Party”
A little whimsical, a lot easy. This simple take on a smoothie and toast is playful so it feels like an occasion without adding extra work. It's even better if mom's a tea drinker so it's a real tea party!
Blend up a smoothie with Smith Brothers milk, yogurt, and frozen berries. Pour into small cups and serve alongside toast cut into fun shapes (think hearts or stars) with butter or jam. Toast full slices of bread, then cut the toast into shapes using cookie cutteres.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Smith Brothers strawberry milk
- 1 cup mixed berries
- 1/2 cup vanilla or plain Greek yogurt
- Your favorite sliced bread
- Smith Brothers butter
- Jam
- You'll also need plastic safety cookie cutters for cutting out toast shapes
Kids can:
- Add ingredients to the blender
- Press the button (big moment)
- Use cookie cutters for toast shapes
Easy Breakfast Board
For the kids who want to “make a big spread.” It’s less about cooking and more about presentation, so it's low effort but looks impressive. The kids can take full control of the assembly and make it as creative as they want. They'll simply arrange a selection of pastries, muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, and maybe some cheese on a big board or tray.
Ingredients:
- Assorted pastries, croissants, & muffins
- Fresh fruit
- Yogurt
- Orange Juice
- Optional: cheese
Kids can:
- Help choose a few special items
- Place items on the board
- Group colors or shapes and design how it'll look
The real secret ingredient
It’s not the cinnamon or the perfect pancake flip, it’s the effort. A slightly lopsided parfait or an extra-crispy piece of French toast just means it was made with love (and probably a lot of enthusiasm).
And if Mom gets breakfast in bed out of the deal? Even better.
