How to Make the Perfect Burger

How to Make the Perfect Burger

We know there are a million different ways to flavor your burger, but when we're using flavorful, quality beef, simple is best. So we scoured the web for the best simple burger recipes and made a few rounds of burgers. We loved this recipe from Bobby Flay because of its simplicity and the way it let the beef flavor shine through.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Divide the meat into 4 equal portions (about 4 ounces each). Form each portion loosely into a 3/4-inch-thick burger and make a deep depression in the center with your thumb. Season both sides of each burger with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a gas grill to high or heat coals in a charcoal grill until they glow bright orange and ash over. Brush the burgers with the oil. Grill the burgers until golden brown and slightly charred on the first side, about 3 minutes. Flip over the burgers. Cook burgers until golden brown and slightly charred on the second side, 4 minutes for medium-rare or until cooked to the desired degree of doneness.
  3. Sandwich the hot burgers between the buns and serve immediately.

Oh wow this was very tasty. I actually put some seasoning, an egg and added grated sharp white cheddar cheese in with the burger. Then cooked it in a pan on the stove with a splatter screen on it. Put some mayo and barbecue sauce on the buns and it was delicious!!

What is the depression in the middle for?

We recommend making a depression because it keeps the burger from shrinking!
